My thesis work is a remaking of the romantic-era ballet Giselle (1841) into a performance series and video trilogy. The trilogy is structured as a sonata: the brisk Exposition [Allegro] being The Mad Scene, the Development [Lento] being The Wilis, and the rousing, Recapitulation [Rondo] finale being The Wandering Womb.
Exposition: The Mad Scene is part I. I perform a reinterpretation of the famous mad scene, mixing mime from the original scene with my own improvised and choreographed gestures.
